Bar Harbor, Maine is Mount Desert Island's largest community and the home to 1,532-foot Cadillac Mountain—part of neighbouring Acadia National Park. You can use Bar Harbor as your home base to explore the park's loop road and historic carriage roads, or to go hiking or rock climbing on Cadillac Mountain.
In Bar Harbor itself, there is a wide variety of things to do – you can play golf at a course just outside the park, or go boating or fishing along the town's coastline. You and your family can visit a nature camp, an oceanarium, a zoo or a lumberjack show. You can also sample local craft beers on a brewery tour or shop at a number of boutiques for works made by Maine artists.
