Shimmering glaciers, dramatic mountain peaks, deep blue fjords and an abundance of wildlife are amongst some of the reasons people travel from across the globe to Alaska. Accounting for one fifth of the total land area of the United States, it is a large state to cover. Alaska boasts more than half of the country's National Parks and over 33,000 miles of coastline. Due to its immense size and vast areas of undeveloped wilderness, many areas are only accessible by boat or aircraft, and Anchorage acts as a hub for numerous tours.
