Travel from San Francisco to Yosemite on this spectacular short break. From the `City by the Bay' you head out across the mighty Sierra Nevada Mountains en route to the crystal clear waters of Lake Tahoe. Enjoy time in majestic Yosemite National Park, one of the most spectacular wilderness regions in the USA.
Day 1 - San Francisco to Lake Tahoe
Head for the hills and the shores of Lake Tahoe to discover why it's the choice destination for locals to kick back and relax. Swim and enjoy a myriad of water-based activities in this picturesque setting. Why not top off your evening with an optional sunset catamaran cruise before trying your luck on the Nevada side's many clubs and casinos? You've just arrived in paradise so enjoy every minute of it!
Day 2 - Yosemite National Park
After crossing the 10,000ft Tioga Pass, you'll get your first glimpse of this incomparable landscape of glacier carved cliffs and cascading waterfalls. You'll soon be itching to get your hiking boots on and explore. Yosemite National Park is nature's greatest backyard and with both easy and strenuous hikes you're bound to find a trail that suits your ability. Whichever trail you choose, you'll be amazed at the magnificent waterfalls and epic cliff faces. Famous for its Giant Sequoias and abundance of incredible wildlife such as bears and coyotes, you should keep your camera to hand at all times. If that isn't enough you can even float down the Merced River on a rubber ring for a different perspective of this truly awesome place.
Day 3 - Yosemite National Park & San Francisco
Another impressive display of Mother Nature's handiwork awaits you, wander beneath the canopy of the tallest trees in the world, giant sequoias growing to over 120 metres in height. Departing Yosemite, you stop at a grove of towering redwoods, before travelling back to the 'City by the Bay', famous for its laid back, hippy vibes! The tour sadly ends here, but we recommend staying a few extra days to hit the shops in Union Square, take a ferry across to the infamous Alcatraz Prison or stroll across the iconic Golden Gate Bridge. San Francisco is the perfect place to end your short break in Western USA and you'll no doubt be planning your return trip long before you leave!
