Day 1- Portland
Arrive Portland International Airport and overnight in Portland.

Day 2- Portland
You have the entire day to explore Portland and its very unique neighbourhoods, all of which you can enjoy via public transport. Visit Washington Park and its International Rose Test Gardens, Japanese Garden, Oregon Zoo and the Forest Discovery Center. Take the Portland Streetcar or the Max Light Rail to Nob Hill where you can take a stroll around NW 23rd Street with its many boutique shops and Victorian villas. The districts of Portland offer a variety of cultural and sporting attractions such as the Cultural District with the Portland Art Museum, the Lloyd District with sports and concert venues and the Lloyd Center Mall. Visit the Classical Chinese Garden in Chinatown, the largest garden of its kind outside mainland China! 
Overnight in Portland.

Day 3- Portland via Willamette Valley to Florence, approx. 175 miles. 
Travel the fertile Willamette Valley, referred to as the Land of Plenty by the Oregon Trail Pioneers. Pass through the wine regions of Newberg, Salem (Oregon's Capital) and Eugene where you will find over 100 wineries. Spend the night in Florence, on the Oregon Coast, a perfect gateway to the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area. 
Overnight in Florence.

Day 4- Florence to Brookings, approx. 160 miles. 
Today's journey takes you along one of the world's most scenic Coastal Highways - Oregon's Pacific Coast All America Road! You may wish to stop off along the way at one of the many Oregon State Parks which offer activities such as dune buggy rides and hiking trails, or perhaps visit the small commercial fishing town of Charleston, Shore Acres State Park which is decked out with over 250,000 lights in December, or take time to visit some of the many lighthouses en route. Overnight in Brookings.

Day 5- Brookings to Klamath Falls, approx. 210 miles. 
Take Highway 199 inland from Brooking Harbor and stop to enjoy the huge redwood trees along the way. The Oregon Caves National Monument and Caves Chateau are approximately one hour from this highway and are well worth a stop. Southern Oregon has much to offer with the major activity centre of Rogue River in Grants Pass, the city of Jacksonville which features on the National Register of Historic Places and Ashland which has gained much recognition as the home to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival which runs from February until November. 
Overnight in Klamath Falls.

Day 6- Klamath Falls to Bend, approx. 175 miles. 
Today you will travel along the beautiful Volcanic Legacy All American Highway which includes Klamath Lake, Crater Lake National Park and the Rim Drive which provides breathtaking views of the deepest lake in the USA. Boat rides on Crater Lake are available during the summer months; the south entrance to the National Park is open year round. Head north and take the Cascade Lakes Scenic Byway with views of snow topped mountains into Bend. 
Overnight in Bend.

Day 7- Bend to Baker City, approx. 235 miles. 
The John Day Fossil Beds National Monument and parts of the Journey Through Time Scenic Byway are on today's programme along with lots more of Oregon's natural beauty. Enjoy a drive through the Ochoco National Forest, stop at the Painted Hills and John Day's Sheep Rock unit. Visit the Kam Wa Chung National Memorial in John Day - a tiny and truly unique medicine man's home. 
Overnight in Baker City.

Day 8- Baker City to La Grande, via Hells Canyon, approx. 200 miles. 
Before leaving Baker City take time to visit the Flagstaff Hill Oregon Trail Interpretive Center which tells the Oregon Pioneer story through many wonderful exhibits. Drive along the Hells Canyon Highway towards La Grande stopping to take a look out from Hells Canyon Overlook. 
Overnight in La Grande.

Day 9- La Grande to Hood River, approx. 220 miles. 
Today you will be heading west towards Hood River. Only a short drive from La Grande is the rural town of Union with the 'Cowboys Now and Then' Museum. Continue with your journey and stop off at Pendleton and visit the Umatilla Reservation and Tamastslikt Cultural Institute. Pendleton hosts the USA's largest 'Round Up' every year in September and offers visitors year-round attractions including the Underground Tours and the Round Up Hall of Fame. Overnight in Hood River, considered the wind surf capital of the World.

Day 10- Hood River to Portland, approx 65 miles. 
Spend part of today exploring lively Hood River. The Historic Mount Hood Rail Road, the Carrousel Art Museum, the breweries and, of course, the Columbia River are all there for you to enjoy. As you head towards Portland you will be travelling the only Congressionally-designated National Scenic Area of the USA and along the fourth Oregon All American Road - the Historic Columbia River Highway with many waterfalls and scenic vistas. Make one final stop in Troutdale which offers an outlet shopping centre - remember no sales tax in Oregon - before flying home.
