Day 1 Fly from the UK to New York

And there is always something new to see in New York! But for first time visitors, a city tour including a visit to the Empire State Building or Top of the Rock at the Rockefeller Center, and a cruise to see the city’s skyline and Statue of Liberty are a must! Visit the Observation Deck at One World Trade Center is another great way to see the sights from a bird’s eye view. Why not take a stroll over the Brooklyn Bridge or rent a bike and cycle across. Outside of Manhattan, New York’s other boroughs will give you a more local, neighbourhood vibe. Eclectic shops, trendy nightlife and world-class dining all subway ride away from the centre of the city.

Stay for three nights in New York.

Day 4 Collect your hire car and head to the Hudson Valley, approx. 80 miles

The Hudson River Valley has offered inspiration to writers, artists and lovers for generations. Visit Kykuit, the Rockefeller estate, where you’ll be surrounded by terraced gardens, extraordinary works of sculpture and can enjoy dramatic Hudson River views. Take in the free gallery exhibition in the Philipsburg Manor Visitor Center or browse through the museum shop. Stroll the trails of the Rockefeller State Park Preserve, or scout out a picnic spot at the Rockwood Hall portion of the preserve, overlooking the Hudson River. Or take the Walkway Over the Hudson State Park, for some stunning river views.

Stay for two nights in the Hudson Valley.

Day 6 Drive to the Catskills, approx. 90 miles

Driving through the Catskills provides wonderful photo opportunities – beautiful mountain scenery, wildlife, bright blue waters and country farms. But to really appreciate this stunning region, get out of the car and try one or more of the numerous outdoor activities – some of the world’s best fly fishing, canoeing, kayaking and hiking or just relaxing in the fresh air.

The legendary Woodstock Festival, which took place in the Catskills town of Bethel, celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2019 – bringing its mission of “peace & music” with it.

Stay for two nights in the Catskills.

Day 8 Return to New York, approx. 140 miles

Drop-off your car in time to check-in for your flight back to the UK.
