Day 1 - Fly from the UK to Honolulu (via a gateway city).
Stay four nights in Waikiki
Sometimes called “The Gathering Place,” Oahu certainly lives up to its name. The third largest Hawaiian island is home to the majority of Hawaii’s diverse population, a fusion of east and west cultures rooted in the values and traditions of the Native Hawaiian people. It’s this fundamental contrast between the ancient and the modern that makes discovering Oahu so enjoyable.
Learn to ride the waves in Waikiki where surfing was born or catch a big-wave surf meet on Oahu’s famed North Shore. Explore popular farm to table restaurants, browse the latest designer and local fashions, check out the urban art scene in Chinatown or learn about Hawaii’s history at Iolani Palace. Take a trip to Pearl Harbor or hike on the iconic Leahi (Diamond Head). Waikiki boasts excellent nightlife, from casual bars to night clubs.
Day 5 - Fly from Honolulu to Kahului (Maui)
Collect a car and drive to Kaanapali, approx. 30 miles.
Stay four nights in Kaanapali.
One visit and it’s easy to see why Maui is known as “The Valley Isle.” From the scenic slopes of fertile Upcountry Maui to beaches that have repeatedly been voted among the best in the world, a visit to the Valley Isle recharges the senses and makes you forget about all of life’s troubles. Stand above a sea of clouds high over Haleakala. Watch a 14-metre whale breach off the coast of Lahaina. Lose count of the waterfalls along the road as you manoeuvre the hairpin turns of the Hana highway.
Plan a day trip to the islet of Molokini, a must for any snorkeller or scuba diver. Visit Central Maui’s Iao Valley State Park, which features one of Maui’s most recognisable landmarks, the 365-metre Iao Needle. Make sure you visit Haleakala National Park, a scenic national park home to Maui’s highest peak. Take a surf lesson on one of the many incredible beaches on the South and West of the island. Spend a day at The Pools of Oheo. Get up early and see the Haleakala sunrise, one of Maui’s most awe inspiring experiences.
Day 9 - Return your car to Kahului airport
Fly from Kahului to Kona (the Big Island)
Collect a car and drive to Volcanoes National Park, approx. 30 miles
Stay two nights at Volcanoes National Park
It’s easy to feel awed on Hawaii’s Big Island, particularly with the molten magma flowing from Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Discover this exciting park’s diverse terrain and ecosystems ranging from barren lava rockscapes to lush rainforests. Rent bikes or hike one of the trails and discover not only the landscape but the unique flora and fauna of the park.
Explore the green rainforests of the Hamakua Coast to the jet-black sands of Punaluu Beach. The dramatic size and scope of the largest Hawaiian Island create a microcosm of environments and activities. On this island’s vast tableau, you’ll find everything from extravagant resorts and incredible golf courses to modest local towns and sacred Hawaiian historical sites, from the birthplace of King Kamehameha I to Hawaii’s first missionary church in Historic Kailua Village (Kailua-Kona).
Day 11 - Return your car to Kona airport
Fly from Kona to Lihue (Kauai)
Collect a car and drive to Kapaa, approx. 10 miles
Stay three nights in Kapaa.
Kauai is Hawaii’s fourth largest island and is known as the “Garden Isle.” The oldest and northernmost island in the Hawaiian chain is draped in emerald valleys, sharp mountain spires, jagged cliffs, tropical rainforests, forking rivers and cascading waterfalls. Beyond Kauai’s dramatic beauty, the island is perfect for anyone looking to indulge in outdoor pursuits. Visit Waimea Canyon, Opaekaa Falls or Spouting Horn, some of the island’s most beautiful natural attractions. Kayak the Wailua River. Snorkel on Poipu Beach. Hike the trails of Kokee State Park. Go ziplining above Kauai’s lush valleys or take a dramatic helicopter flight.
