Florence and Muscle Shoals
The roots of American music are embedded deeply in “The Shoals”, a grouping of four small Alabama cities, Muscle Shoals, Tuscumbia, Sheffield and Florence. Recording studios in the four cities made history as the “Hit Recording Capital of the World” in the 1960s. The Rolling Stones, Aretha Franklin and others came for the “Muscle Shoals Sound.” Tour actual recording studios and see where the hits were made. Visit the home of W.C. Handy, the “Father of the Blues” and tour the Alabama Music Hall of Fame. Live music includes fun locations such as Rattlesnake Saloon located in a cave, Champy’s Chicken and Blues, downtown Florence and the Swampers Bar.
