Bardstown

Known as the Bourbon Capital of the World, in Bardstown you’ll certainly find plenty of places to find out why it came by that title, but there is much more besides. The historic downtown has a range of eclectic boutiques, fine dining restaurants, the Old Talbott Tavern which began operating in 1779 and a selection of museums dedicated to history of the area. Take a trip back in time with an excursion on one of the vintage trains through the local countryside. Experience My Old Kentucky Home with a tour of the Rowan plantation home that has been restored to its mid-19th Century glory.

Tour and taste at some of the area’s distilleries such as Jim Beam, Four Roses or Heaven Hill, or alternatively taste some of the area’s fruit wines at one of the farms around Bardstown. Festivals happen throughout the year and you’ll always an excuse to have a sip of bourbon!
